Patch 1.0 - Larger structural changes

Hey guys,

This patch is focused on cleaning up the core of the project and organization, with that we'll also open up the possibility to change the settings for your game to a certain extend. The game will now also save data locally to give some statistics at the end of each reset.

Changes:

Betting system:

The first patch we pushed out focused on making it easier to change your bets quickly and more intuitively. The system became almost unusable when double clicking it to make small adjustments. We decided to rewrite the entire system to make it more reliable.

Double clicking & holding these buttons will result in a higher rate of addition/subtraction. -> Double clicking & holding will no longer up the rate of addition/subtraction.

Addition/Subtraction rate = 0.25 -> 0.125 (to account for the removal of the double click mechanic)

"Apply the PTFE" -> Your bet no longer glitches while double clicking the +/- sign.

"Let there be sound!" -> Changing your bet will now make sound.

Settings menu (new):

The game previously only used one stock of 52 cards in a deck; With the new settingsmenu (assessable in the top right corner on the main screen) we open up te possibility for changes to be made, including the deck size.

Deck size changeable -> The deck size can now be changed from 1 - 10 stocks inside the deck.

Deck size default = 1 -> 6 (casino standard)

Sound slider -> The settings menu now has a Sound slider to make the new sounds in the game adjustable.

Sound volume default -> 100.

"So what's my volume now?" -> You will hear an example of an audio queue with your newly setup volume upon letting go of the slider.

Performance tab -> The settingsmenu has a new performance panel.

Performance FPS -> The game now shows your FPS accordingly.

Performance Load time -> The game can now calculate the time it takes to make and shuffle the deck (from your specified deck size) in ms.

"We can't do that here sir" -> The load time will reset upon changing the deck size. (You'll have to recalculate it using the button)

"What's the version?" -> the game version will now show up in the settings panel.

The settings menu now contains a button that takes you to the itch.io page of the game (uses your standard browser).

Play area:

We got some feedback surrounding confusing interactions with Ace cards, so we're putting some quality of life changes out. Just for the record, you may only double down when your starting hand is either 9, 10 or 11 of value and you have enough money to increase your bet by 2x.

"Where is the ace?" = Your deck will always show  only the highest possible value -> There'll be a second number indicating the minimum value of your deck, whenever there is an ace in your hand that at that moment in time counts as 11. We hope this cleans up confusion around some weird interactions the system seemed to make at first.

Before:

After:

"We don't need this anymore, thank you!" - The minimum value will disappear when you exactly hit 21, while the ace on your deck counts as 11.

Double down System:

Some changes of interactions and rules.

You can only Double down whenever you can afford to -> remains unchanged.

You can only Double down whenever your deck value is 9, 10 or 11 -> You can only Double down whenever your minimum value or your maximum value of your deck is 9, 10 or 11. Aces can count either as 1 or 11 with this system.

Reset System:

The reset screens will now show you some statistics of your game (before your reset).

The stats it currently saves:

- Games played, won, lost and tied.

- Cards Drawn (this only counts the cards drawn by the player, not the dealer).

Installation:

  1. Remove the folder with the outdated gamefiles.
  2. Download the update.
  3. Extract the gamefiles inside a folder.
  4. Start it up, (the game should be able to find the progression of the older version, if not contact us).

Let us know what you think about this update!
